Punk and Shoegaze Conspire to Help UV-TV Shatter ‘Glass’ Ceiling
Florida punks UV-TV play fast and fun. Previously, the band was responsible for a punchy, to-the-point demo EP and a split with Shark Toys, each release offering a snippet of their noisy but sweet tendencies. Today, UV-TV are releasing their new record, Glass, a grab bag of all kinds of punky, gaze-y treats that you can sink into. Opener "Wasting Away" starts in a blaze, guitars frantically strumming around the lilt of singer Rose Vastola's voice. Things escalate on pipebomb tracks like "Lilith" and "You're High," but the band isn't afraid of slowing the pace down a little either. "Severed Hand" is a five-minute dive into fuzz, the band slowing the pace to let the guitar work cast a huge spell of sound. UV-TV prove themselves to be an incredibly capable outfit, down to try any sound and master it with ease.
