It's been a busy past couple of months for Flasher. Last fall, Priests' label Sister Polygon treated the D.C. punks' awesome self-titled debut cassette to a proper vinyl reissue, followed shortly thereafter by a sizable North American tour. Flasher are showing no signs of slowing anytime soon — in fact, they're just getting started. Come spring, the trio will release a new 7" featuring two new songs, "Winnie" and "Burn Blue." They've let go of the former today, an intense post-punk burner inspired by the crash of EgyptAir Flight 804 last May, and titled after the Texas town where the song was originally written.

"The lyrics were written as an exercise in assemblage / automatic writing told through two televised perspectives that converge in psychosexual reverie," the band explains via a press release, adding, "Almost every word was taken from the pontificating pundits on CNN or the ecstatic sales pitches of pharmaceutical advertisements: For example, the refrain 'these feet want to keep the beat moving' was plucked from a diabetes medication commercial." The source material may not be chaotic, but the song certainly is — such is Flasher's transformative beauty.

Stream "Winnie" below, and scroll down to view the artwork for Flasher's upcoming 7", as well as their tour dates.

Flasher's "Winnie" / "Burn Blue" 7" will be released May 5 via Sister Polygon. Pre-order it here.
