The Man Behind the Sound of Modern Garage and Punk Goes Solo
While you may not know it, the name Mikey Young is very likely responsible for some of your favorite music out there. Besides being the go-to for tons of mixing / mastering jobs across the worlds of punk, indie, garage and more, Young is also in several bands that have helped shape the indie scene in the past 10 years — you know, bands like Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Total Control, Lace Curtain, Ooga Boogas and more.
In addition to all of those bands and helping to shape the sound of literally dozens more, Young also has his own venture in the form of solo release Your Move, Vol. 1, part of Moniker Records' Your Move: The Synthtastic Solo Series For Humans 8+. The record features five new tracks from the Aussie genius, three of which are streaming here, including today's new jam, "Walking for Pleasure." The synth-focused release leans ambient overall, but throws some fascinating curveballs to take you deep into the worlds of Tangerine Dream, Vangelis, John Carpenter and more, while leaving an impact that's all its own. Stream all three tracks below and pre-order yours.
