Harrisburg, Pa., indie outfit Young and Heartless have been doing their thing for about five years now. Earlier this year, they released sophomore LP, Stay Away, on Hopeless. The record showcases delicate but energetic tendencies of the genre, alongside emotive singing. "Punch Drunk (LOA)" is among the standouts, and today the band is premiering their equally heavy video for the track. Their guitar work casts an atmosphere almost immediately, enveloping blankets of melody and coolness while singer Jeremy Henninger recounts past relationships. Shots of the band performing are contrasted with a ritual of sorts, an individual surrounded by candles and summoning someone from the past, memories and reality becoming less concrete. The imagery and music sync masterfully before a sudden surprise at the end.

Of the video, the band says:

Apart from the eerie supernatural elements, the video for 'Punch Drunk (LOA)' is surprisingly typical. Worry and lonesomeness push us to worship ineffective rituals that land us in relationships that cultivate self-harm. Maybe it is unhealthy to fill life with things that will hurt or disappoint us, but then again, is the void a stronger alternative? Lyrically, the song is about the sense of panic you can feel existentially, waking up in the same bed, and how that can feel as if your life is disappearing. It speaks of calmly awaiting remedy for that feeling and hostilely defending your own methods of self-medication.
