Wax Idols Get What They Want in Heart-Wrenching New Single

Last year, California post-punk band Wax Idols put out one of the year's most underrated records in American Tragic, an album that expertly weaved nostalgic goth sensibilities with a new-age focus on songwriting. Today, they've released a taste of their new album, Happy Ending, due out next year. "Everybody Gets What They Want" takes a swelling approach, singer Hether Fortune swinging back and forth between intensely beautiful vocals and a melancholy approach. The guitars are joyous on the surface, but there's an undercurrent of sadness under the track, creating an excellent dichotomy in both its vocals and music.
