Ought bandleader Tim Darcy is going it alone with Saturday Night, his debut solo LP. The record, out next month via Jagjaguwar, breaks from the Montreal musician's tense art-rock m.ofor a show of soft, baroque-tinged balladry à la Jeff Lynne.  This paradigm shift from FM to AM manifests powerfully on Darcy's recently shared single "Tall Glass of Water," as does his freshly unveiled "Still Waking Up," which the troubadour dropped off today in the form of a visual directed by U.S. Girls' Meg Remy.

Nodding liberally to the Smiths and Neil Young, the song gently details a relationship on the rocks, liable to collapse at any moment. "Something about the way you blink your eyes tells me that you’re not ready," Darcy observes gently. "Tells me that you’re still waking up alone with too many years left to plan." His subject may not be willing to jump off the deep end, but we certainly are. Watch below, and scroll down for the album artwork and track list, plus Darcy's upcoming tour dates.

Tim Darcy's debut solo album, Saturday Night, arrives February 17 (a Friday) via Jagjaguwar. Pre-order it here.
