The Courtneys Are Feeling ‘Minnesota’ on Latest Single
The Courtneys have been kicking tons of ass lately. Last year, the Vancouver pop-punk outfit inked with the Flying Nun crew for their sophomore LP, The Courtneys II, becoming the first-ever signees from a country other than the storied label's native New Zealand; they've been on a winning streak ever since, churning out single after terrific single. After taking our breaths away with "Silver Velvet" and "Tour," the threesome has returned to knock the wind out of us yet again with their new track "Minnesota." Dominated by mellifluous hooks and a persistent, chugging back end, it channels the gritty power-pop blueprint drafted by the Replacements and Sugar, two legendary acts hailing from the state for which the song's titled.
The Courtneys II will be released by Flying Nun on February 17. Pre-order it here.
