Michigan-based Outside create an isolated, introspective take on post-hardcore that you won't find from many other bands. They're releasing their debut self-titled album this Thursday, and today you can hear the entire thing front to back. Opener "Self-Crucified" sets the pace with a storm cloud of a riff, obscuring the vocals to a hazy, ghostlike presence. Things pick up on "Sign the Canvas," the guitars reminiscent of the heavier edges of Far, while "Rot My Mind" increases the intensity even further. But even in its louder moments, the record remains a dreamy, nostalgic trip that you'll want to stick with.
