Before S U R V I V E, before Perturbator, before every single new jack ever decided that John Carpenter was cool and that his soundtracks were more than a vehicle for his killer films, there was Zombi. The Pittsburgh band, featuring A.E. Paterra and Steve Moore, has been cranking out soundtrack-y synth music since the early '00s, with each of the pair also releasing several things under their own names and other monikers.

The latest release from the Zombi members comes from Paterra, who is welcoming a new EP as MajeureApex, due February 17 via Temporary Residence Ltd., still retains the insane synthwave focus, and contains the first ripper out of the gate, "A Few More Pieces of Eight," below. Paterra is the drummer in Zombi, and his skills shine brightly on the track, executing killer fills in between the onslaught of ascending and descending funky synth lines.
