King Woman Give Praise to the ‘Hierophant’
King Woman can pull off pretty much anything they set their minds to. This month, they'll be releasing their debut full-length, Created in the Image of Suffering, the next step in their growth as songwriters, and another toward to becoming a force to be reckoned with in doom. Today, you can hear their song "Hierophant," a seven-minute epic showing the ways that beauty intersect with power. Singer Kristina Esfandiari's voice melts into the deep hues of the guitar work, imbuing the opening of the track with a loud defiance. Things eventually descend into a valley, her voice like a faint light in a cave of sonics, before the band tears through in triumph. It's another song that shows how the boundaries of doom can be pushed.
