It's been a hot minute since Fleet Foxes released their excellent 2011 album, Helplessness Blues. Today, the Seattle folk outfit has returned with their first new material in six years: a nine-minute monster titled "Third of May / Ōdaigahara." It's set to appear on their third album, Crack-Up, which hits shelves June 16 via Nonesuch.

Speaking with Pitchfork today, frontman Robin Pecknold — who produced Crack-Up alongside fellow Fleet Fox Skyler Skjelset — offered some insights into the album's overarching themes. "Lyrically, a lot of the album deals with perception," he said, "and the difference between how I have seen the world and how it actually is, in terms of people or situations or self-assessment, or any other permutation of the problem."

Fleet Foxes' Crack-Up LP is due out June 16 via Nonesuch. Pre-order it here.
