Brooklyn-based Eaters do everything in their power to "Embrace the Strange." You can hear it for yourself on their newest song of the same name (from their upcoming self-titled LP, due May 12). What starts as a solid-sounding garage-rock track gets more and more subverted as it goes on. A thick electronic hum reverberates over top, bouncing off the jovial riffage. Reverbed vocals come in before giving way to a claustrophobic, repetitive rhythm that moves along to the bounce of the track. The guitars soon fly off the handle as well, crazy solos erupting around synthy beats. It's a gnarly track, illustrating how the band can rocket from one starting point to the far reaches of space.
