Though Sabbath Assembly have changed a lot since debuting in 2009, the current lineup might be their strongest of all. Jamie Myers (ex-Hammers of Misfortune) is still up front, backed by original drummer Dave Nuss with longtime bassist Johnny DeBlase; guitar god Kevin Hufnagel (Gorguts, Dysrhythmia) is still on board; and now the band welcomes Ron Varod (Kayo Dot, Psalm Zero, Zvi) on second guitar. None of this would matter if the band wasn't ripping out great music.

"Does Love Die" is the latest vehicle for Sabbath Assembly, a track that opens with Myers' aching vocals and a darkly beautiful acoustic guitar passage, which eventually opens to electric guitar punctuation. Restraint is their best asset here, building the tension higher and higher before sloping off into the darkness. It's an amazing track, the kind that is unfulfilling in the best of ways, making you want to hit repeat again and again. The video, which makes its debut here today, combines superimposed images of paintings, the stars and mysticism to create a surreal visual companion.

"Does Love Die" comes from the forthcoming Rites of Passage LP, due via Svart on May 12. Order yours
