Stream Preoccupations’ Multi-Movement Epic ‘Memory’
Preoccupations (formerly Viet Cong) have roped in Dan Boeckner (of Wolf Parade, etc.) for the 11-minute epic burner “Memory.” The track, culled from the band's self-titled LP, due September 16 via Jagjaguwar, is comprised of three unofficial movements, with the first section utilizing a gothic post-punk beat before switching into Boeckner's synth-pop extravaganza, and then a section featuring washes of ambient texture. Frankly, it feels like three completely different songs, and that's totally OK.
