Charles Moothart — who earlier this year launched his own band named after his initials, CFM — has been cooking up some pretty rad fuzz-rock for a minute now. He's been part of Fuzz, GØGGS and Ty Segall's band, making CFM one of the most well-rounded projects around. Next month, CFM will release the new Homegrown Paranoia EP. Today they're celebrating the announcement with the release of one of the album cuts, "The Stooge." It's loud and sweet rock music, showing off his past experience, albeit with a more concise and straightforward take. It's all the best parts of that wavy kind of garage rock, with none of the fat and all of the coolness. Trippy effects pop up alongside the riffage for a killer taste of what the EP is going to bring.
