The Afghan Whigs' 1996 record Black Love would prove to be one of their most cinematic and memorable. Now that they're back together, the soulful Cincinnati outfit is reissuing the album with a few treats for fans — one of them being this stunner of a cover of New Order's classic "Regret." The New Wave classic is stripped bare in the radical interpretation. It's incredible what Greg Dulli and company are able to do with merely a piano, recontextualizing the song's incomparable exuberance. It's a model for how to show love for an original while still incorporating your own unique perspective.
