Red Fang’s ‘Shadows’ Is 2016’s Goriest, Goofiest Video
Red Fang's new video for "Shadows," the latest single from their upcoming album Only Ghosts, starts off innocently enough. Guitarist David Sullivan and bassist Aaron Beam are getting ready to kick back and have a "suuuper mellow" weekend with the rest of the band, drinking beers out in the woods. They load into the van with the rest of the Portland crew, and in the midst of their excitement, they accidentally hit the bumper of some nerd's car. Normally that wouldn't be a big deal, but Red Fang's fender bender knocks a nerd's soda off the windshield, ruining his prized, priceless issue of the Predator comic book (signed by David Sullivan, no less!) This. Means. War.
What happens next? I don't want to spoil the plot, but I will say that it involves the following: a (seemingly) runaway beer cooler, invisibility cloaks, heavy artillery, heat-seeking cameras, impalements, exploding heads, and enough blood and beer to fill an Olympic-sized swimming pool.
Needless to say, this clip (directed by longtime collaborator Whitey McConnaughy) isn't exactly safe for work; regardless, it's a hilarious, gory mess, and the band's best video by far — and keep in mind, their previous clips have featured Fred Armisen and zombies, as well as murderous actors. Check it out below, along with the band's upcoming tour dates with Torche and Whores.
Red Fang's latest album, Only Ghosts, arrives October 14 via Relapse.
