Father John Misty works in mysterious ways. Today, the singer-songwriter dropped a new short film, Pure Comedy. It contains both studio footage of Misty singing new songs and some total goofiness (with sound echoing reminiscent of Longmont Potion Castle). You'll see a couple of L.A. homes on fire, galaxies and orchestras, but you'll also hear a smattering of new tunes from his upcoming record on Sub Pop, where he seems to be taking the variety of sounds and instruments to a new level. It'll be interesting to see what the LP sounds like in full, and how the short will connect thematically.
