Founded in 2013 by four UCLA undergrads and fostered in the City of Angels' queer arts scene, art-punk quartet French Vanilla have plenty of sax appeal — and more importantly, ample stylistic smarts. The band takes a dissonant, politically-minded approach to no wave that hearkens back to the genre's glory days; think Bush Tetras after a weekend of binge-reading Audre Lorde and taking saxophone lessons. Unsurprisingly, the foursome's unique, animated sound makes for a killer live show. They've been on a veritable slaying spree as of late, sharing stages with the likes of Cherry Glazerr, Screaming Females, Tacocat and Genesis P-Orridge, and even earned the top spot on Oh My Rockness' list of L.A.'s hardest-working bands in 2016.

Following 2015's excellent demo tape, French Vanilla are gearing up to release their self-titled debut this spring via Danger Collective. Production-wise, the nine-track LP skews a little more refined than the preceding release; nonetheless, it still brings the skronky fury. Give first single "Anti-Aging Global Warming" a spin below, and scroll down to view French Vanilla's track listing, as well as the band's upcoming tour dates.
