Guitarist Shiv Mehra is associated with a couple bands and styles, ranging from a take on black metal (Deafheaven) to full-on shoegaze (Creepers), but a third project that he's been a part of for some time concentrates on psychedelic pop. Formed in Oakland, White Cloud expanded from the duo of Nick Capello and James Murphy (not that one) to a quartet with the addition of Clarence Magno and Mehra, digging into psychedelia and krautrock over the course of several short releases and the Seven Heads LP. More material is imminent; a new White Cloud EP is due in 2017 and the first track to be released is "Money Angel," a pop tune that feels like it needs an acid test and a sitar to be the perfect encapsulation of the groovy Bay Area of yore.
