Once upon a time, in a wooded glen off in some distant land, there was a dapper gentleman. Wandering through the woods one day, the mustachioed traveler came across a cabin inhabited by a beautiful woman; he instantly fell in love, despite her servitude to an intimidating partner armed with a gun and a whip. Ever-faithful to his heart, the dandy hatched a plot for her escape, even enlisting the help of a bear (who just so happened to know how to drive).

So goes the legend of Weyes Blood's video for "Do You Need My Love," the just-released single from her upcoming album Front Row Seat to Earth. On paper, it reads like your typical fairy tale, but the visual is anything but normal, transcending the gender binary as well as common logic. Natalie Mering dons a mustache to play the assumed male lead, with her friends (Sam Boyd, Ben Kudler, Nikki Smith) taking part in similar gender-bending antics. Plus, there's someone in a bear suit — and as Nicolas Cage so powerfully demonstrated in The Wicker Man remake, amazing things happen when you stick someone in a bear suit. Watch below.

Mexican Summer will release Weyes Blood's new album, Front Row Seat to Earth, on October 21.
