Vagabon is the musical endeavor of Laetitia Tamko, a talented producer and multi-instrumentalist, as well as an unparalleled poet. Born in Cameroon, she moved to Brooklyn in the early aughts, where she quickly amassed a reputation as one of the borough's most impactful indie auteurs. The artist is currently gearing up to release Vagabon's highly anticipated debut album, Infinite Worlds — a charming folk LP doubling as a powerful, extremely detailed collection of nonfiction culled from Tamko's experiences in the country where she was born, the city she would ultimately call home and everywhere else in between.

As a woman of color operating within a scene dominated primarily by middle-class white men, Tamko knows all too well what it's like to feel out of place. The album tackles — and ultimately defies — these anxieties carefully, and concisely. Infinite Worlds opener and lead single "The Embers," for example, develops the artist's account of a claustrophobic bus ride into a reflection upon those overwhelming feelings of smallness that can strike in even the most crowded spaces ("My feet can barely touch the floor / On the bus where everybody is tall"). There are tales of labor, love and struggle, but the album's predominant mood is one of perseverance and — as the title suggests — cosmic transcendence.
