Pavement co-founder Scott Kannberg has returned with Doris and the Daggers, his latest album as Spiral Stairs. The follow-up to 2009's The Real Feel LP arrives March 24 via Nine Mile / Domino. The 2015 passing of Kannberg's friend and collaborator Darius Minwalla — who drummed in Kannberg’s other band, Preston School of Industry, and contributed to The Real Feel — was a major source of inspiration for the new album, according to a press release. Kannberg recruited an all-star cast of guests to help with the send-off: National's Matt Berninger, Broken Social Scene's Kevin Drew and Justin Peroff, Shudder to Think's Adam Wade, and San Francisco multi-instrumentalist Kelley Stoltz.

Kannberg's first taste of the upcoming project — the video for single “Dance (Cry Wolf)" — features a special guest, as well. At first glance, the clip scans as simple — just some shots of Kannberg performing on a rudimentary computer and in the great outdoors — until you look a little closer and see that it's not Kannberg at all, but rather Jason Lytle (whose band, Grandaddy, also have a long-awaited album on the way). Spiral Stairs, you trickster! Watch below, and scroll down to view the track list.
