Ride are one of the most important shoegaze bands of all time. In 1990, they released the immensely influential Nowhere, an album that ushered the genre from the underground to the mainstream. It's been over 20 years since they've released a new album, their ill-received Tarantula being the band's last. Well, the band reformed in 2014 after a long hiatus, and today we can finally hear new music in the form of "Charm Assault." The song is decidedly rock, weaving in a lot of elements that would sit right at home on Carnival of Light, but there's still a lot of experimentation to be had. After the jammy, singalong choruses and verses, Mark Gardener and company dive into an extended bridge, letting fuzz and effects take the main stage. This is a reunion that you'd be a fool to miss.
