Floating Points aren't exactly a down-to-earth bunch; They're a band rooted in ambiguity, a musical body circling some great, big, labyrinthine black hole, swirling with jazz, electronica, and neoclassical. Surprise – they now stand with all ten feet on terra firma, and the whole thing's on tape. This June, Sam Shepherd and company will release Reflections, a short film and soundtrack inspired by and filmed in California's Mojave Desert. Created by the band and Anna Diaz Ortuño, It features five previously unheard tracks which date back to Floating Points' tour last year (behind 2015's Elaenia LP). Watch a trailer below.

Reflections follows the group as they perform the new material in the white-hot wilds – a landscape which eventually became an extension of the group itself during their time there, Shepherd said in a press release. "While we were out playing and exploring the area around us - the sound reflecting from the rocks, the sound of the wind between them, complete stillness at night and packs of roaming coyotes in the distance, it became apparent that we could use this as its own unique recording environment," he revealed.

Floating Points will release Reflections on June 30 via Luaka Bop. Pre-order it here.
