Certain rock music should make you feel good at its core. Take, for example, Memphis, Tenn., band Pillow Talk. The band doesn't necessarily sing the tune of a totally saccharine reality, but their self-reflection is able to meld perfectly with upbeat indie rock to create something lush. Today, they're premiering their newest single, "Sorry in My Mind," off their upcoming LP, This Is All Pretend. The song employs a lot of different elements to send you into an acid-washed daze of reverb and beauty. Old and new techniques work together to form something new, vocals shifting into a style reminiscent of Kanye West vocoder over shoegaze's dancier tendencies. It's a pleasantly strange trip of a song, with a lot of hooks that will fade in and out of your brain.
