Mount Eerie’s Phil Elverum Tackles ‘Real Death’

Phil Elverum's 2016 was pure hell, to say the least. The musician responsible for Mount Eerie and the Microphones had to go through the tragedy of his wife, Geneviève Castrée, dying of cancer. In response, Elverum will release his newest Mount Eerie LP, A Crow Looked at Me, on March 24. The first single, "Real Death," works on many different levels, Elverum singing, "Real death is not for making into art," his body failing him when he encounters an empty room without his wife.
