Japanese post-rock heroes Mono have always been somewhat mysterious, at least to American audiences. Since 1999, the band has been crafting one sweeping work of art after another, featuring a variety of sounds, instruments and textures that bend the traditional post-rock formula. Today, they've released a teaser for their new documentary, Journey Through Hell, documenting the process behind this year's Requiem for Hell LP. The band's history is told from the beginning, focusing on their initial hunger to release music internationally. The doc also features interviews with the likes of Steve Albini, spotlighting his relationship with Mono and how they introduced him to new instrumentation. It's a worthwhile exploration of why the band has more than earned their legendary status.
