Merchandise have proven themselves to be ever-evolving practitioners of sonic texture and emotion, not to mention a damn fine band. In a couple of weeks, they'll be following up 2014's heavily praised After the End with a new full-length titled A Corpse Wired for Sound. Today they put out a real game-changer in new video "Lonesome Sound." Singer Carson Cox phases into and through multiple television sets, and there's some definite technomancy going on. The song exhibits a kind of "cool pop," the band's normally post-punk calling card revealing catchy and upbeat tendencies you would want to dive into to cool off. But despite the uptick in pace, never does any of the music come across as shallow, instead proving how versatile their sound can become in a split second.
