Imagine Mega Bog and You 'Happy Together'

Erin Birgy has been going through some changes — not just in her personal life, but also her work as multi-instrumental pop auteur Mega Bog. Her sophomore album, Happy Together, doubles as an aural memento of the musician's recent cross-continental relocation from Seattle to New York City; it was assembled on tape during the move, in between bouts of box-schlepping and lease-signing. Despite the liminal terms of its gestation, Happy Together provides a cohesive, carefully constructed listen, joining the gauzy, guitar-driven palette of its predecessor (2014's Gone Banana) to a more stylistically ambiguous template that draws upon jazz and dream-pop. A number of familiar faces make appearances, including iji members Zach Burba and Will Murdoch, and Big Thief’s James Krivchenia.
