Less than two years after his appropriately titled triple-LP masterwork The Epic, jazz saxophonist Kamasi Washington has announced his Harmony of Difference EP, due out this summer via Young Turks. He’s also revealed Truth, a 14-minute epic paired with a film from director A.G. Rojas, which originally premiered earlier this year as part of the Whitney Museum’s biennial celebration. (You can see the full 37-minute masterpiece, for which the EP is titled, in person through June 11.) Don’t be intimidated by the runtime — Washington doesn’t play music so much as perform miracles, calling forth the spirits of guitar and saxophone to instill ample awe and amazement (particularly with the latter — that SOLO!).
