There's just 30 days left until America decides who will govern this fine country for the next four years: a former Senator and Secretary of State with a miles-long résumé, or a crotch-grabbing cheese curl. With the most impactful election of our time just around the country, the nation's growing more polarized by the day — and as far as the Republican nominee's relationship to the Arts is concerned, it's pretty much Donald J. Trump vs Everybody (except Kid Rock). From to Brujeria to Neil Young, the White Stripes to the Rolling Stones, most bands can't stand our follicly-challenged Commander-in-chief. Now, with the help of author Dave Eggers, artists are expanding their war of words into a proper musical campaign with 30 Days, 30 Songs, an ongoing series of protest songs created in opposition to Mr. Trump.

From today on, 30 Days, 30 Songs will count down to Election Day (November 8) with new songs from My Morning Jacket’s Jim James, Aimee Mann, Thao Nguyen (Thao & the Get Down Stay Down), and clipping., with more to be announced. R.E.M. are joining the fight, too; the coming weeks will see the disbanded icons deploying a previously unreleased live track. Proceeds from the songs will benefit the Center for Popular Democracy, a nonprofit advocating Universal Voter Registration.

And now, here's Death Cab for Cutie with the opening salvo, "Million Dollar Loan." As the title suggests, the track centers on the Donald's rise to success, enabled by Daddy's itsy-bitsy million-dollar loan. It arrives alongside a glossy lyric video featuring a silhouetted Trump — a kind gesture, considering we're all sick of his face — that you can watch below, accompanied by Ben Gibbard's statement and the song's lyrics.

Grab the song here, and for the love of god, register to vote if you haven't already. If you're reading this, Ken Bone, I like your sweater.

Ben Gibbard on "Million Dollar Loan":

Lyrically, 'Million Dollar Loan' deals with a particularly tone-deaf moment in Donald Trump’s ascent to the Republican nomination. While campaigning in New Hampshire last year, he attempted to cast himself as a self-made man by claiming he built his fortune with just a 'small loan of a million dollars' from his father. Not only has this statement been proven to be wildly untrue, he was so flippant about it. It truly disgusted me. Donald Trump has repeatedly demonstrated that he is unworthy of the honor and responsibility of being President of the United States of America, and in no way, shape or form represents what this country truly stands for. He is beneath us.

"MILLION DOLLAR LOAN" LYRICS

From a great height he's looking down on his city at night
From gilded room of gold, marble and soft perfume
And he's proud to say he built his fortune the old-fashioned way
Because to succeed there's only one thing you really need

A million dollar loan
Nobody makes it on their own without
A million dollar loan
You'll reap what you've sown from
A million dollar loan
Call your father on the phone and get that
Million dollar loan

His enemies can't contain the flames of jealousy
With brutish charm the women flock to be on his arm
Because it's a sign of weakness to apologize
And he counter sues from any corner he's backed into

A million dollar loan
Nobody makes it on their own without
A million dollar loan
To cast the first stone you'll need
A million dollar loan
Every ascension to a throne starts with
A million dollar loan

A million dollar loan
Nobody makes it on their own without
A million dollar loan
You'll reap what you've sown from
A million dollar loan
Call your father on the phone and get that
Million dollar loan

A siren screams through the city as he falls asleep
The campaign begins again at the break of day

A million dollar loan
Nobody makes it on their own without
A million dollar loan
To cast the first stone you'll need
A million dollar loan
Every ascension to a throne starts with
A million dollar loan

A million dollar loan
Nobody makes it on their own without
A million dollar loan
You'll reap what you've sown from
A million dollar loan
Call your father on the phone and get that
Million dollar loan
