Cayetana’s ‘Mesa’ Video Blends the Floral With the Fantastical
Philadelphia trio Cayetana recently announced New Kind of Normal, the highly anticipated follow-up to their 2014 debut, Nervous Like Me. The jangle-punk outfit is set to release the new LP later this spring via their own recently launched label, Plum Records. Judging from the sounds of first single "Mesa," the new record's got plenty of the fluid pop-punk grooves and springy New Order-y basslines that fans have come to expect, gussied up with cleaner production. Watch Cayetana's floral, fantastical visual for the song below, and check out the Nervous Like Me album artwork and track list, as well as the band's upcoming tour dates.
Despite its uptick in sonic affability, Cayetana's latest is anything but hunky-dory. According to a press release, the new full-length doubles as the band's collective account of their war with the monsters in their heads: "The record is about mental health, struggling with that, and settling into a new kind of normal where you can finally recognize your own your destructive behaviors and accept love into your life."
Cayetana will self-release their sophomore album, New Kind of Normal, on May 5 via Plum. Pre-order it here.
