Electronic producer Arca has never been one to shy away from experimentation. Today, he's announced the upcoming release of his self-titled, third full-length (due April 7 on XL Recordings). In addition, he's dropped a new track, "Piel," documenting some of the changes in sound from his prior work. For much of the track, Arca sends you on a spectral, haunting journey through a variety of glowing soundscapes. His voice floats over the instrumentation with ease, his words sounding otherworldly. Feedback and distortion soon take over, developing the song into a thing of beauty. On the flip side, he's released an alternative version of the track, with a video of him in a cave, his vocals sounding distorted and strange. The album should be another strange work, expanding on what he's already accomplished.
