Shit just seemed cooler in the '70s. The records were cool — you had everyone from Pharoah Sanders to Fred Wesley and the J.B.'s to Deep Purple to the Stooges to Fania All-Stars putting out the best stuff of their lives. Drugs were cleaner and cheaper. Sex was free and casual. There was no bullshit like social media or cell phones or any of that — just leather, sports cars and someone smoking-hot by your side to show the world how cool you were.

Admiral Sir Cloudesley Shovell get it. Wah and fuzz are the name of the game for these U.K. hard-rockers, whose latest single, "U Got Wot I Need," sounds like it should be blasting out of a purring gold Camaro. The band name checks some of the best of the '70s and '80s as their influences — like Sir Lord Baltimore, Rose Tattoo, AC/DC, MC5, Budgie and more — so you know where they're coming from on the forthcoming Rise Above LP Keep It Greasy!, due October 14. Check out the first single below and order yours via Rise Above.
